Remember, these are the folks that want to restrict your gun rights-

Here's a great story from Wisconsin of complete, abject failure by the vaunted Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms & Explosives setting up a sting operation, ripping off the property owner, paying over retail prices for guns bought new at big box gun stores and allowing a fully automatic M4 assault rifle to be lost to thieves. Red the entire story, it's quite incriminating.

But while you are reading this story of buffoonery, remember that should the .gov get the firearms restrictions that they so earnestly desire, it will be this gun losing agency that enforces the laws and comes knocking on your door insisting you turn over your standard capacity magazines because it offends someone's view of how many rounds you can load in your gun.

DHS wants "personal defense weapons," says citizens can't own "assault weapons"

So it seems that back in June 2012, the Department of Homeland Security issued a Request for Proposal to purchase 7000 Personal Defense Weapons, select fire, (meaning fully automatic capable) versions of the popular AR-15, the single most popular rifle in America, claiming they are “suitable for personal defense use in close quarters.”

Now these are the very same guns, from the same manufacturers and minus the select fire capability that Diane Feinstein says are unsuitable for a citizen to own and use, not even for personal defense use in close quarters. Note that the RFP even calls for the purchase and use of those scary, extra-dangerous 30 round magazines. And why do these government employees need these scary, select-fire bullet spraying rifles instead of the semi-automatic version? Hmm?

The hypocrisy is blatant and remarkable. In the first place, if I don't need an AR15, why does the Department of Homeland Security need them? More importantly, if these scary guns are good for personal defense of DHS personnel, why are they not suitable for you or me to use for the same purpose? C'mon .gov, you can't have it both ways!

This article doesn't say if any manufacturer was approved for the contract and realistically, every one of the current manufacturing firms making these guns couldn't stay financially viable if they refused to sell 7000 guns to the government but wouldn't it be neat if they decided to not bid to sell these  guns? It's obvious that the government wants to ban the sale of these guns to civilians, you and I because of the very few jackasses that have misused them but stopping those civilian sales will hurt more firm's bottom lines than getting or not getting 1 government contract. That contract is only going to go to 1 company all the other companies are going to be badly hurt should Dianne succeed.

All in all, I think Dianne's bill hasn't a snowball's hope in hell of success. Yet it is just appalling to me how blatant and obvious the hypocrisiy that our government "betters" are with their intent and wishes.

Bob knows-

Barack Obama and his allies want “common sense” to rule on guns. I completely agree.

It is “common sense” to ignore the recommendations of people who are superstitious, factually ignorant, politically-motivated, and poorly educated.

It is “common sense” to engage with real experts, credentialed in their area of expertise, when important matters are before the nation.

It is “common sense” that politicians be held accountable for their assaults on the Constitution.

By all means, lets introduce “common sense” to the debate over firearms. It’s the last thing that anti-gun politicians, media figures, and activists really want.
 

Why are liberals so angry?

And threatening violence? This guy needs some anger management therapy.

I'm thinking that pointing out the anger and violence that liberals will make public on the internet may become one of the reasons for keeping this humble blog alive.

What a refreshing difference!

So, as you know, I'm out of work and job hunting. It's not fun. It is especially difficult to remain upbeat about job prospects when so often, you apply for positions online and then hear nothing from the potential employer. And, because all the application process is online, there's no feedback, no one to contact or follow up with regarding the position.

But I am significantly cheered today. Sitting here at the table and searching the KSL Jobs listings, I discovered a position I thought I might be particularly well suited for. I wrote an email to the person the advert directed me to, attached my resume and sent it off before adding the position to my list of places I applied this week.

It wasn't 5 minutes later that I received a phone call from the individual that received my email! He wanted to have a preliminary interview over the phone! Wow! We talked and I answered his questions and afterwards went ahead and sent him a thank you email, including a references list, just in case it might speed the hiring process at the company.

I have to tell you it was a very refreshing improvement to most of my job search efforts. The position would be very different from what I've done in the past and wouldn't be a great deal of money but I think it would be challenging, interesting and would involve my non-logistics expertise.

Now I guess I wait to see what comes out of this interview!

I figured it out-

If you've visited Wasted Electrons anytime before January 2013, you have no doubt noticed the change in appearance here. When I started searching for a new design, I chose the one you are seeing now. You might have wondered about this rather dark template. Hell, I wondered about it myself but implemented it anyway.

Today I've figured out why this design appealed to me- it looks like the colors of a Modern Sporting Rifle, an Evil Black Rifle if you prefer that moniker. Just today I've also seen these fully legal, semi-automatic rifles called patrol rifles and Defense Utility Rifles and Regime Change Rifles. I don't own one of the AR15 rifles- sadly and now, because there aren't any to buy, I want one. I'm pretty certain the reason I chose this color design is because it looks like these rifles.

I'm pretty fed up, pissed off really, at all the news stories coming over the electronic transom here about how terrible these rifles are- how they have no practical sporting purpose, that only law enforcement persons should be allowed to use them, how nobody needs a 30 round magazine to go hunting, etc, etc. It's all bull shit and everybody knows it, those that favor the guns for whatever reason and those that would take them away from those that own them. But the opponents hide their knowledge and hate them because they are black or military looking and that's all they need to identify, scarify and legislate against them.

Let's face it, the AR15 is a 50 year old design. Our military has used the full auto version since the 60s. Your bolt action deer hunting rifle most likely was a military design before being picked up for it's ruggedness and reliability and accuracy by civilian gun manufacturers. Those old Mausers and Springfields that served so well in multiple world wars are still being used and their designs implemented in common deer rifles throughout North America. So, its just a design. Adjust.

If you don't believe this, wait. If the gun banners gain a foothold against the AR15, the next thing they will come for are bolt action, scoped deer rifles. After all, doesn't that description match the description of a sniper rifle? And we couldn't possibly allow those in civilian hands no could we?

There's manufacturing capability here in Utah-

for any firearms manufacturing companies- Bushmaster maybe, that doesn't feel welcome in New York any longer. Utah would be happy to accept your manufacturing efforts and nobody here is going to tell you that your products aren't welcome.

Vote with your production, workers and sales taxes and get the hell out of a state that doesn't want you!

Snow today-

More on the way. It started snowing yesterday afternoon and by wake-up time this morning there was 10" on everything. I've been out once to clear the vehicles and the driveway and I suppose in a couple hours I'll have to do it all over again. Before it gets dark this afternoon, I'll have to load up the snowblower and head down to clear the church walks.

Oh yeah, why am I posting in the middle of the day? I'm out of work, have been since September. That's why I can post during the day...

I'm afraid it is going to be time again soon...

Now, I hope I'm wrong but the current administration and the anti-gun rights lackeys that support it are really digging in for a fight. If the gun-rights supporters that we have elected can't do the job, I suspect it will still get done and our rights, under God and supported by tthe 2nd Amendment will be preserved.

The 2nd Amendment does not protect our rights to go duck hunting. It ensures our right to be secure from a tyrannical government. The Founding Fathers knew this and as this video shows, our veterans knew this too.

No, I don't know why I can't get comments working on my new template. It is a mystery- a Blogger mystery.

Happy New Year!

Well how about that? I'm not dead and to prove it, I've given this humble blog a new look. Maybe it's not a shiny, bright look but hey, it's my blog and I can decorate it (almost) any way I want. There's still ladders and paint tarps laying about and all the masking tape hasn't been removed or the new fixtures installed yet but Rome wasn't built in a day and neither will my little spot on the interweb.

But this blog's 10 year anniversary is rapidly approaching so I figured I better shine it up a bit and get cracking if I still want to call myself a blogger. I'll be finishing up the decorations around here in the coming days.
